Day 20: One shy of 21!

Today’s Agenda:  7-mile run
Time – 1hr 10min
Pace – 10:03/mile

Welcome runners,

It is day 20 but tonight I’m hoping for 21 when Melissa and I hit the casino.  Tonight is her 10-year high school reunion.  They chose an awesome location in Blackhawk, Colo. and I look forward to playing some blackjack.

Tonight will be great if it is near as good as this morning’s run.  However, I shouldn’t take all the credit.  I had some words of encouragement from my beautiful girlfriend Melissa that ignited today’s performance.

I started sluggish.  Lackadaisical.  But Melissa snapped me out of it.  I jetted off.  I never

felt out of breath, but the pace was much faster than usual.

Of course when I ended I found out why.  A 10:03 pace for 7 miles is awesome.

Afterward, we discussed the routine of marathon training at the beginner level.  It doesn’t quite have the variety we got used to during Hal Higdon’s Intermediate Half-Marathon Training.

Word of Advice:  add variety to your training regimen.  It can add spice things up and keep it interesting.

That spice can be fartleks, intervals, or mile repeats.  Try a few out and see what brings back the excitement.

Get out and fill your passion bucket,

Getting in my speedwork at the track.
