Day 22: A “brake” down.

Today’s Agenda:  Make-up missed cardio.

Thanks for coming back,

Yesterday’s rest helped re-energize me.  I couldn’t sit out today.  Too much guilt from dropping the cardio activity.   I Decided to take a bike ride on one of Colorado’s wonderful bike paths.

I am a hypocrite.  Every time I see someone riding a motorcycle, which in Colorado is a lot (the state does not have a helmet law), without a helmet (which is often) I criticize them saying how stupid they are and why would they risk their livelihood over a vanity reason. Yet I ride a bicycle from time to time – without a helmet.  My excuse – when I grew up kids didn’t year helmets, at least not the majority.

Well today I come to redeem myself.  This morning I pulled my bike down and got aboard the one-brake catastrophe.  I’m borrowing my girlfriend’s helmet for today’s ride.

Picture will be coming, but my girlfriend is on a hike and no camera.

Then my bike had a flat.  I was 3-miles away from home.  My bike has no accessories – like an air pump.  Lucky for me I was near a bus stop and had brought my wallet.  Thank God for a bus pass, or it would have been a long walk home.

And the helmet was not an issue.  I felt proud to have broke through my stigma.

Word of Advice:  Safety first.  One-seventh of all cyclists killed in 2008 were between the ages of 5-15 years old.  And 716 total deaths.  There is a shocking number of statistics every cyclists needs to read.  Be safe.  If I can do it, so can you.

Get out and fill your passion bucket,

Kyle
